A concrete patio is the foundation of how a Hill Country home actually lives. Most of our clients spend more time on their patio than in their living room from March through November — so we treat it like the room it is.
Patio types we build
- Slab patios — the most common, a single 4-inch slab on a compacted base
- Raised patios — for sloped lots where the patio sits above grade, often with a retaining wall
- Covered patios — slab prepped for a future roof, with footings and beam pockets
- Outdoor kitchen slabs — thicker, with plumbing sleeves and gas line stubs pre-set
- Two-story decks over concrete — slab first, framing second, integrates cleanly with a stamped pattern below
The way we approach a patio project
We start with how you actually plan to use the space. Dinner parties for 12? Big green egg in the corner? A pool adjacent with a sun shelf? Kids and dogs? The answer changes the spec.
Slab thickness. Standard patios are 4 inches. If you are planning a hot tub, a masonry fireplace, or a stone outdoor kitchen, we pour 6 inches with rebar on 12-inch centers in that footprint.
Drainage. Patios need a minimum 1/4 inch per foot slope away from the house. We shoot grades with a laser and verify with a 4-foot level before we pour. Standing water on a patio is a sign of a bad contractor.
Control joints. We cut control joints at 8–10 foot intervals, aligned with the pattern of the slab and the look of the house. They are tooled or saw-cut, never troweled over.
Finish. Most Lakeway patios get either a light broom finish or a stamped pattern. Around pools, we typically recommend a knockdown texture or exposed aggregate for slip resistance.
Patio pricing in Lakeway and Bee Cave
A standard 4-inch broom-finish patio runs $9–$12 per square foot installed. A stamped patio with a sealed pattern runs $14–$22 per square foot (see the stamped concrete service page for more detail).
A typical 350 sq ft patio lands in the $3,150 to $4,200 range for broom finish, or $4,900 to $7,700 for stamped.
What to think about before you call
These details affect price and timeline — having answers ready for the first site visit makes the quote more accurate:
- Approximate size and shape
- How you will use it (dining, lounging, hot tub, kitchen)
- Whether you want a roof, pergola, or shade structure now or later
- Existing drainage issues or standing water
- Any HOA restrictions on color, pattern, or finish
We handle the rest — pulling measurements, calling 811 for utility locates, and putting together a written quote within 48 hours of the visit.
Patio add-ons we handle in-house
- Footings and beam pockets for future roof framing
- Gas line and water line sleeves for outdoor kitchens
- Electrical conduit for lighting and ceiling fans
- Integration with pool decks, walkways, and retaining walls
- Saw-cut expansion joints filled with self-leveling polyurethane sealant
Send us your lot layout, a photo, or even a quick sketch. We will turn it into a quote and a pour plan within two business days.
